(The opposite does exist, but that doesn't help me.) So, I resolved to get a new monitor. As far as I can tell, an HDMI-male, Mini-DisplayPort-female doesn't exist (what I thought I needed to keep using the Cinema Display). HDMI via USB-C: Before I moved on from the Cinema Display, I had to go through a long adapter (aka converter)-search hell. The adapters out there are currently single port solutions that preclude, in effect, using them on a design like the 12-inch MacBook, which requires a multiport adapter. Nor is it much better for typical displays (with multiple connectors) that can use the Google adapter. And, no, I'm not going to jump through ( these) stupid hoops. Note to naysayers: the Google USB Type-C to DisplayPort Cable doesn't work with the Cinema Display and its hard-wired Mini DisplayPort cable. USB-C and Mini DisplayPort: Both of the above laptops dumped the Mini DisplayPort, rendering my (and otherwise still perfectly usable) 2,560-by-1,440 Cinema (27-inch) Display useless.
